It's been a little over six months since we began our Noah Project Pet of the Week series, so we thought we'd take a look back at those furry kids we've featured and who've found their forever home through your support and the efforts of Your Noah Project.
Despite the tough economic conditions that we all face, Noah Project has found homes for over 150 dogs and cats so far this year. Over 100 dogs and cats are presently calling Noah Project their home. A temporary home where they'll know love and care until that special person comes through the door offering the forever home they so deserve.
Each one of these pictures represents a success story about a homeless, abandoned animal that is now living their dream of a safe and loving home where they can bring joy and companionship and, maybe, get a little spoiled! After all they've been through, we think they deserve it!
I've had the privilege and pleasure of knowing each of these incredible animals, and can only wonder how it was that they ended up in a shelter. It's probably safe to say that, in some cases, it was a heart-wrenching, but necessary, decision to give up a beloved family member. In others, it was selfishness or, worse, heartlessness. If you've spent any time at all around a shelter for abused and abandoned animals, you begin to think that "human being" is a loosely applied term and "humanity" is still very much a work in progress. Thankfully, your Noah Project is there to protect these defenseless animals from a tragic end.
Sadly, though, each year in the U.S. nearly 2 million animals are euthanized due to a lack of willing homes or available shelter space. Animals that were allowed by us to experience life, then had that life taken away simply because noone cared enough to care for them. In a land as rich and generous as our's, how do we continue to let this happen?
Where is the compassion? Where is that sense of moral responsibility to our fellow creatures? I feel it. You feel it. All of the people associated with Noah Project feel it. Together we are trying to do something about it.
Each one of these pictures represents a life that was saved through your efforts as a volunteer, or as a voice for animal welfare and adoption, or as someone who donates to the shelter whenever and whatever they can. It may seem like the effort hardly makes a difference in the face of such a big problem but, try saying it doesn't matter when looking in the eyes of one of the dogs or cats at the shelter. Those eyes that say nothing more than love me. Care for me. Keep me safe. Help me find a good home.
It breaks my heart to see so much unconditional love, companionship, fun and friendship languishing at the shelter. Especially when there is so much of that which is needed in our lives. These little guys ask so little for all they give back every day. So, though we can't save every dog and cat that is in need, every one we do save is a cause for celebration. And, while there remains much more work to be done, we can all take pride in every thing we do on behalf of these precious little lives.
At Noah Project, we take great care through our extensive assessment and acceptance procedures, to ensure that all of our dogs and cats are happy, lovable and have the capacity to become valued members of your household.

This process includes ensuring that all our animals are in good health, current on all necessary tests and vaccinations. Also, as part of our continuing effort to reduce the population of unwanted, neglected and homeless animals, we neuter and micro-chip all of our pets.

Although our "cast of characters" is constantly changing, we always have pets to fit every lifestyle. Whether you live in large open spaces or in an apartment, whether you are the outdoors, active type, or prefer to curl-up on the couch with a good book, we have a pet that's right for you.

If you are thinking about adoption (and we sincerely hope you are), please know that Noah Project has developed a very thorough adoption policy. For your protection as well as that of the animal, we require, among other things, a vet reference, existing pets must be neutered/spayed, existing animals must be licensed and current on all vaccinnations,written landlord approval for renters and appropriate containment methods in place (fence, trolley, etc.)
